It's real easy to go into business.  Just file some paperwork, pay some money and just like that you have a business.  The question is, what type of business do you have? Is it the type of business that you want?  Is it the type of business others want to do business with? Is it growing? Is it going somewhere? Are you actually doing something?

At first it feels really good to say, "I have my own business." People are like, "Ooh, wow..." or, "That's so impressive." And for those who've never had one, they really are impressed. Filing official paperwork can be terrifying... if not for any other reason than inviting the government up in your business. So kudos for that! But...

There are so many more things involved. The bookkeeping, the personnel, sales, marketing, vendors, payroll, and taxes are just a few. Those things can make it real easy to put in some half-ass effort thinking many of these tasks can go unnoticed.  And why not...it's your business so who's paying attention?

The Real...that extra effort will make all the difference in not only your money, but the quality of you company, your products and services, your personnel's morale and it can determine how, and if, others choose to do business with you. So make an effort and then add a bunch of effort on top of that. If not, why bother?
