It's easy to look at someone else's situation and call it a hot mess. To judge what they've got going on. To sit in righteousness thinking you're in better shape than that person. You tell yourself you've made better decisions, you're smarter, or you're simply blessed because you're a good person. And all of that may be true. But honestly, we all have at least one hot mess (or ten) going on right now.
Here are some generic examples:
- You're killing it at work, but your relationship is on the rocks.
- Your business is blowing up...you're unstoppable, but you have no friends.
- You love your family but are secretly addicted to [fill in the blank]. (ex. social media, Netflix, vodka, vaping, etc.)
- You have 1 million followers but no money, investments, or savings.
And the list goes on.
IG and TikTok are proof that we are addicted to the mess happening in other people's lives. People we don't know and will never meet. We tune in to watch their storytime posts and mess, which is somehow easier than cleaning up our own. Dealing with our own would be too hard. But like I always say... the anticipation of doing the hard thing is always harder than actually doing the thing itself. But eventually, we have to address it because no one is exempt from the mess of life.
