We live in a looky-loo society, and with so much to look at right now, it's easy to hang on the edge. Looking. Just dipping a toe in. Not wanting to get wet. Not willing to go deep. Content watching others get in game, while you just look.
This is particularly common with the aspirational crowd. The people that are full of ideas and dreams and goals while fearing them at the same time.
Maybe you...
Stay on the edge of LinkedIn. Looking around because you've heard it's good to be there, but the most you've done is like some posts or request connections?
Going deep would involve actually posting content. Making yourself known by engaging in a memorable way.
Maybe you...
Stay on the edge of YouTube watching your favorite content creators do what you desperately dream of doing, growing a podcast or channel. You're doing research, right?
Going deep would mean actually creating content. And then posting it.
Maybe you...
Stay on the edge of your career by procrastinating with another course (or degree), always getting ready to get ready.
Going deep would be putting yourself in position for the role you want. Making it happen. Sans debt.
I'll admit, I've played around on the edge a LOT. Doing the surface stuff. That busy work that had me convinced I was getting somewhere. But at some point, I had be honest with myself and say, "If I only dip my toe in and watch what's going on from the edge, I'll never make it to the other side."
