These internet times are some tough ones. So you have to make the most of every opportunity. There is so much noise out here, that when someone is listening, you have to seize the opportunity. Even when you're not physically available to do so.
Maybe someone met you at an event, heard you speak somewhere, or saw one of your posts and decided to head to your website. You never know who's going to visit. And when you have a home for your business, aka your website, people get to show up unannounced all the time! But the key is to make your site do it's job so well, you'll always be prepared.
Your website isn't just pretty pictures and clever words. It needs to move people closer to doing business with you. Pretty pictures and clever words definitely help! But also...
- Making them comfortable means making it easy for them to figure out what it is you do and how you can do it for them.
- Offering them some information to drink means showing them why they want you to have their business. You can do that through a testimonial, a case study, a video demonstration or whatever makes sense for your business?
- Sending them off with a gift they didn't already have means asking them to opt-in for that special solution only you can provide by giving you an email that allows you to keep the conversation going.
Let your site work for you. You can't always be around to throw down that welcome mat and capture that sale. So your site has to step in and do its job. It's not necessarily a hard job, but it's probably the biggest and most important role in your business.
